The House of Return

Can Torna literally translates to “The House of Return” in Mallorquin, for us this means a return back to a traditional way of not only doing things but also as an ideology which is central to that which concerns our future as well. From the way in which we prepare our food to how we work and take care of the land and all those under our roof, the focus is on the human experience in connection with nature and each other in an authentic way of life.

For the love of life and expression in all its forms we aim to offer those that chooseto spend their time with us a display of traditional living for the modern world. Song, dance, clean food and a more holistic way of life are the ideals of a culture that we see a place for in these changing times.

While we understand that people will always have an effect on the world around us, we can choose how we conduct ourselves and relate to the space which we inhabit and how that space might have a reciprocal effect on us. Learning from our history, we want to reintegrate the land into our lives in ways that our ancestors did before us but have otherwise been forgotten by the rest of the world. From making our own soaps, jams and liquor to beekeeping and organic farming we want to show people things that they can take back with them and hopefully inspire our guests to use and share what they have learned for many years to come.

Our hope here at Can Torna is to provide an experience for our guests to reconnect with our human roots as a part of nature and each other through time spent in this special place. It is a place to enjoy a disconnection from the hustle and bustle of everyday life with time spent reminding us of the beauty we can realise through enjoying the fruits of nature in abundance and offering way for the land to gift those fruits on its own accord. We hope that Ca’n Torna- the House of Return- offers you reinvigorated sense of wellbeing and an insight into a way of life that leaves you questioning; “When can we go back?”
